Jewelry like all art is timeless. The pieces of jewelry that have been passed down to me are some of my most priceless possessions. When I wear them I feel a special closeness to the person who passed it down. The pieces are of sentimental value to me and are filled with memories.
When I create, I play with the materials to form shapes and designs that make me smile. I have fun and like to push the limits of what might work.
I am often asked about the origin of the name "Kenneth Pierre Designs." The name is a tribute to my father, Ken, and my grandfather, Pierre. In October 2016, I opened my studio, KP Studio, which is a tribute to my late stepfather, Merle. I have taken inspiration from these important men in my life and transformed that into a way to pass on to the others the power of expression through making jewelry.
I hope to inspire others through teachng the art of metalsmithing and that someday someone will be wearing a piece of Kenneth Pierre Designs jewelry that was passed down to them and they will feel a little bit of magic.
